Is there anything more beautiful than the olive picking season in Palestine… Sumud Story House women’s group spent a beautiful day on Monday, 8th of November 2021, in nature among the olive trees. They worked together in picking the olives and sang some traditional Palestinian songs, including songs related to the olive season.
They, then, shared breakfast which included oil, pickled olive, Z’atar, and Taboon bread in an atmosphere of pleasure and joy that accompanies this season.
Some of the women also narrated their old stories in olive picking and talked about the traditions in picking. Others mentioned some proverbs used on this occasion. A few others talked about the yearly violations they are facing by the occupation forces during this season, which prevents them from harvesting their olives.
The meeting ended with reading interfaith prayers, singing, and trilling.
