Wall Museum

The “Wall Museum”

Background story

Once the area around Rachel’s Tomb, a pilgrimage place for Moslems, Christians and Jews, was one of the liveliest in Bethlehem. The Hebron Road connected Jerusalem with Bethlehem, and its northern section was in fact the busiest street in town.

Sponsor a Wall Poster in Bethlehem

Help to expand the museum

We invite you to sponsor a large poster with a human Palestinian story to be attached on the Wall in Bethlehem.  Already 100 posters bring out the stories of Palestinian life and challenge the restrictions under occupation. This “Wall Museum” will be expanded and will present many new Palestinian voices to the world.

Peace Stories Christmas 2011

May God Bless you all this Christmas. May the Lord Jesus whose birth we are celebrating the world over bring a message of Peace and Compassion to those of you unable to enter Bethlehem the place of Jesus birth.  Let us all pray for a spirit of reconciliation on all sides of the conflict which has been ongoing for many years.  As I sit here in Sydney, Australia I am overcome and deeply saddened with the difference we as Christians in a free democratic country are able to live our lives in peace compared to what you as Christians are faced with this Christmas. I pray especially for the children of the Middle East, who look up at night to see the same stars on which you gaze with hope and wonder.  May all who share the same sky learn to share the same land, making peace and seeking justice.

“Wall Museum”

December 22, 2011

During this Christmas season, a so-called “Wall Museum” of posters will be created on the Wall near Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem, Palestine. An initiative of the Sumud Story House/ AEI, it is designed to communicate real-life Palestinian women’s stories. The stories of suffering and oppression as well as 'sumud' (steadfastness or resilience), inner strength and cultural identity are chosen to bring out the truth of Palestinian life, which the Wall tries to hide and kill.  They are written or chosen by Palestinian women’s groups who convene at the Sumud Story House.

Call for Peace Stories Advent and Christmas in Bethlehem 2011

„Waaas? Da müssen wir ja gleich hinterher fliegen.“

Pilgrimage to Bethlehem

As a group of pilgrims from Holland, visiting Bethlehem in the week before and during Christmas, we were honored to be received by the Arab Educational Institute.
